Hi-Fi Tube Amps

These designs are informed by years of servicing and building musical instrument amps. As a result of being subjected to the failure modes of these devices, I have formed strong opinions about what I require in a Specimen design and what I will not tolerate. I require robust construction, some would say overbuilt. I require a sensible flow of the circuit from one end to the other. I will not tolerate etched circuit boards of any type. Every part can be swapped, uninstalled, reinstalled, over and over, inviting experimentation. The Specimen hi-fi amp format is versatile, sensible, and beautiful. They do their job with a smile, sound great, and will keep working indefinitely. What more could you ask for?
